BCCM Joins National Network and Receives Grant

Bay City Cooperative Market is now a member of the Cooperative Grocer Network!

The Cooperative Grocer Network (CGN) is a nonprofit, 501(c)6 trade association intent on strengthening all retail food co-ops by a creating a community of cooperators who can develop and share their best resources and practices. CGN provides extensive online resources for peer support. As new co-ops get up and running, the network offers a place for them to gain insights every day, based on the experience of established stores. It follows number 6 of the 7 Principle of Cooperation — co-ops help each other!

The BCCM board also has some exciting news that we’ll be sharing details on in the coming months: We’ve received the largest grant of our efforts to date! The grant is a Rural Seed Grant that comes from Food Cooperative Initiative and is to be used for outreach to our community. We shared the announcement of this grant on Facebook and Instagram, but we can’t wait to talk about this opportunity in greater depth once all of the details are worked out. Watch for more information soon!
